Job Title: Scientist III, Research & Development
Pay Rate: $33.75/hr
Shift: M-F, 8:30am-5pm
Contract: 6 months
The candidate is expected to have a spectrum of technical working knowledge in characterization of antibody-antigen interactions, molecular typing, protein expression and purification, mammalian cell culture, flow cytometry, and cell line generation with scientific rigor in a regulatory environment. Experiences in assay development using label-free systems such as Bio-Layer Interferometry (BLI) and Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) are highly desired. Skills in instrumentation, automation and software applications are additional assets.
To serve as a technical lead to adopt technologies of industry standards in the field of transplant diagnostics, particularly Ab detection and molecular typing products for Human Leukocyte Antigens (HLA) and non-HLA antigens.
To employ a strong repertoire of scientific techniques and knowledge in monitoring biomolecular interactions and assay development based on Bio-Layer Interferometry (BLI) or Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR), and other biophysical and biochemical techniques such as HPLC, chromatography, immunoassays, electrophoresis, protein quantitation, etc.
To learn DNA-based molecular typing techniques such as Sequence Specific Oligonucleotide (SSO), Sequence Based Typing (SBT) and Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS).
To teach and develop the other scientists in the group, and lead a culture of innovation and Practical Process Improvement (PPI).
To use a strong understanding of statistics to rationally interpret experiment results.
To work closely with different departments in cross-functional projects such as process development, troubleshooting, and technology transfer.
To assist the management of lab operations and perform lab duties including 1) instrument maintenance, calibration, and qualification, 2) ordering and maintaining lab supplies, and 3) supporting Cell Biology functions in general.
To participate in project planning and execution, generating reports, and presenting findings in group and R&D meetings.
Perform all activities in compliance with GDP/GLP/GMP, regulatory and company safety policies.
Bachelor’s degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Genetics or a related discipline in biological sciences with at least 7 years of relevant experience in an academic or industrial laboratory post-graduation.
Master’s degree in related field with at least 5 years of experience in an academic or industrial laboratory post-graduation
Doctorate degree with at least 1 year of experience in an academic or industrial laboratory post-graduation
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Ability to perform multi-tasks and manage priorities to meet company goals
